Throughout history mankind has celebrated harvest time during the fall season. In urban areas, so many grocery stores provide fresh food for a fair price. It is easy to take the blessings of a fall harvest for granted.
At Kingsview Church, Harvest Celebration is combined with Thanksgiving Sunday. The church is decorated with donated fruit and vegetables, baked goods and craft items. Following the worship service, people are welcome to select anything they wish and leave a Thanksgiving Offering.
The offering this year is designated for drought and famine relief projects in the Horn of Africa and the Bishop’s Relief Fund. The Thanksgiving Offering will be channeled through the FMCiC: 70% will be forwarded to World Relief and 30% will be retained in the Bishop’s Relief Fund to be able to respond to emergency relief situations as they arise.
Donations of fruit and vegetables, baked goods and craft items are needed and may be dropped off at the church during the week before Thanksgiving. Volunteers are needed to help decorate the church on Saturday evening at 5:00 p.m. If you have any questions, please contact Yvonne Weir.
