How do we recognize God’s call?
Does God call everyone or just pastors?
Isn’t the ministry the work of ministers?
How can I serve God where I work?
These questions, along with other related issues, will be the subjects for the preaching and teaching at Kingsview Church through this Fall. The Pastoral Staff will focus on the theme “Serving God Where We Live and Work” in the Sunday morning Worship Celebration.
Beginning on September 20th, Pastor Howard Olver will lead a Sunday Evening Conversation on the Sunday morning preaching theme at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday evenings in conjunction with The Alpha Course.
We are living in a time of transition. The economic issues with which the world is wrestling have created far reaching ripple effects that are changing basic structures of societies around the world and will certainly impact North American culture. How can we effectively serve God where we live and work is a question for every Christian to consider.
Preaching is an effective way to communicate basic biblical truth and to confront people with choices that must be made. But preaching does not allow for effective dialogue and exploration of complex issues, an interactive conversation format is better suited for that.
So we will be using both formats in looking at “Serving God Where We Live and Work,” preaching on Sunday morning and teaching on Sunday evening. The Sunday Evening Conversation will join the Alpha Course at 5:00 p.m. for food, fellowship and worship, and then separate for teaching and interaction.
