“March Madness” sort of…
The youth group and the young adults each went to a Raptor’s basketball game in March. They won both games, but sadly have now missed the playoffs… hey, at least we got a free slice of pizza! And we had a great time, too. We’re very thankful that we live in a great city like Toronto that has so many fun things to do.
30-Hour Famine
About a dozen brave members of the youth group joined in this year’s World Vision 30-Hour Famine. Along with about 100,000 other youth from across Canada, we figured out what we could do on an empty stomach.
We prayed for people, especially kids all over the world, and here in Toronto that regularly go without adequate food, shelter & clothing. We also played lots of games, did a digital scavenger hunt, and built shelters out of cardboard… so far, we’ve raised over $500. Thanks to all those that helped support us; we couldn’t have done it without you!
Bike Repair Shop
The bike shop has been open since March Break thanks to the warm weather; thanks to all of you that have already donated a used bicycle! We’re grateful also to The Bicycle Depot on Albion Rd. for their generous support. We’ve already given away quite a few bikes to kids & families in the community.
If you’re interested in donating, volunteering, or learning some basic bike repair skills, please talk to Pastor Darrin; we’re looking to open another time slot each week. Currently we’re open on Thursday afternoons from 3 to 5 p.m. (weather permitting).
Summer Camp
Plans for Summer Camp at Kingsview are underway! This year we’re planning to have a focus on arts & music. Depending on our success with grants & funding, we hope to run for 6 weeks from July 5th to Aug. 12th for kids going into grades 6 to 9. More details coming soon!
