Today’s Teens Conference Update

A group of 20 youth and youth leaders attended a memorable day at Youth Unlimited’s 28th Annual Today’s Teens Conference on Feb. 26th at The Meeting House in Oakville.

We were among the more than 1500 people in attendance, and were blessed with great times of worship, lots of music, dancing, giveaways, workshops, and exhibits, including a new online Christian radio station called Ginseng Radio.

Main youth worker speaker Bo Boshers challenged us to really love & care for each other. “Lead with Love” was this year’s theme. It wasn’t better presented than when a tiny, 80-year old grandmother and youth leader stood up and gave a testimony encouraging us all to love each other… that’s how the world will know we are Christ followers! Can’t wait until next year…

Studio 15

Of all the “…in our community and around the world” things that God is doing, one of the most exciting has to be Studio 15! Our in-house arts & music program is developing (behind the scenes) into more than just a summer camp… we are exploring ways to expand it into a year-round program.

We are currently undergoing World Vision’s LEAP (Learning through Evaluation with Accountability and Planning) training, and pursuing a partnership with them in their Canadian Program, Partners to End Child Poverty. Stay tuned for further developments!

In the meantime, we’re now accepting resumés for summer employment with Studio 15. If you have a passion to work with middle school age youth, and some expertise in the arts, please contact Pastor Darrin or Jessica Dotson. We are also looking for local artists interested in offering an arts or music workshop during July or the first 2 weeks of August.

The Bike Shop

Even as I was writing this article this morning, snow was falling and the wind was howling outside, but spring is just around the corner… isn’t it?! Weather permitting, we are planning to open the Bike Shop at 11 Kingsview Blvd. during March Break.

Volunteers are needed to get the shop cleaned up and organized for the upcoming season. The word gets out quickly when the shop is open, so we also expect to begin repairing and giving away bikes almost right away.

If you love working with kids & bicycles, and you’re interested in volunteering, please contact Pastor Darrin ASAP.
