As part of our desire to be good stewards of all that God has given us, the idea to use some of our property for a community garden has been around for awhile.

The big difference is that this year, it’s become more than just an idea; it’s grown into a reality.

In early June, volunteers began to prepare the soil for planting on the west side of the church building.  Pastor Darrin & Maheli took advantage of a free plant give-away from Food Share, and picked up some tomato, squash and pepper plants as well as several kinds of seeds.  Maheli has been coordinating volunteers to water and weed the garden, and we are already harvesting some leafy greens such as kale.

Our hope is that this community initiative will grow and begin to really benefit others in need in our neighbourhood.  If you would like to get involved, please contact the church office or stop by and have a look at what’s growing.
