This year we will surpass 50 years of ministry as Kingsview Free Methodist Church. It’s a significant milestone, and one to celebrate: “For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.” (Ps. 100:5)

If we assume that a generation is about 25 years, God has been faithful to and through Kingsview for two generations, and we’re now heading into the third.

According to the Canadian Encyclopedia, the oldest active congregation in Canada celebrated their 325th anniversary this year – that’s 13 generations of God’s faithfulness!

That got me thinking about what God might accomplish in our community in the coming generations. What will He accomplish in the Kingsview community? How will He work through the children, youth and young adults of Kingsview, as they grow and mature into the faithful Christians of tomorrow?

Consider the seeds planted by the bus ministry in this picture in 1973 that brought community kids to Sunday School. Now in 2013, the youth group and Studio 15 continue this missional heart to go out into the community and share the Good News of Jesus with those that might not otherwise attend church nor meet caring Christians.

We have the opportunity, as adults, to contribute for generations to come, if we are willing to invest in the young people God has placed here at Kingsview. We have an incredible treasure in the form of children, teens and young adults – many churches, believe it or not, don’t have any people under 30 attending.

We have a wonderful celebration planned on November 24th at the Royal Celebrations Banquet Hall here in Etobicoke.

We’re looking forward to celebrating the past, which is so important, to honour all those that have helped bring us to this point, and also to look to the future, to what God will do in the next 50 years.
