QUESTION: What is a “Society” Meeting?

ANSWER: The “Society” is a Methodist term for the members of a local church.

It is the fundamental unit of organization in the Free Methodist Church in Canada. A Free Methodist society is composed of all members of the local church. The ongoing business of the local church is generally carried out by the official board that is elected by the society. The official board and all teams, committees, groups, and organizations functioning within the church are accountable to the society.

The Annual Society Meeting is the general meeting of the members of Kingsview Free Methodist Church. This year, the Annual Society Meeting is scheduled for Sunday, June 3, 2012, at 12:00 Noon.
