A team of seven people from three Free Methodist Congregations is travelling to Ghana, Africa, February 2-16, 2012, to work along side Free Methodist Churches and leaders in Accra and Kumasi. The team includes three people from the Barrie FMC, two videographers from Sarnia, Dan Sheffield, Director of Global Ministries for the FMCiC, and Pastor Howard Olver from Kingsview Church.

The main task of the team is to assist in hosting a leadership development conference that will include the Ghana Mission’s Annual Conference. This important meeting brings together pastors and lay delegates, from all the churches in Ghana currently affiliated with the Free Methodist Church with leaders from independent congregations interested in exploring the Ghana FMC. Connie Asiedu, a member of Kingsview Church, will be visiting family in Ghana and will also be attending the Annual Conference.

As part of the Annual Conference, Pastor Howard Olver will deliver an intensive course in Wesleyan Theology, a required course for pastors seeking ordination in the Free Methodist Church. The course will also serve as a way of helping pastors, who are exploring affiliation with the FMC better understand the doctrine of the church. The mission trip will also allow Pastor Howard to assess the potential for Kingsview Church, to be involved with the Ghana Mission Project on an ongoing basis.
