As the centrepiece of Kingsview’s community outreach ministries (i.e. local missions), Studio 15 is connecting neighbourhood youth with caring, Christian mentors & leaders through arts & music. Our hope is that these young people will grow to understand who they are, what their purpose is in life, how they can work together with others to achieve that purpose and how to develop a plan for their future.
While still officially in our Pilot Phase, we’re currently developing a presence in 3 local high schools: Kipling Collegiate Institute (KCI), Scarlett Heights Entrepreneurial Academy, and Don Bosco Catholic High School. Workshops are offered during lunch time and/or after school to make it as convenient as possible for students to get involved.
These short, introductory workshops are offered for free to eliminate any barrier to participation. The majority of our workshops, however, are offered at the Broadview Education Centre (Kingsview Church). Here, 10-week blocks of arts & music sessions are given for a nominal fee of $25 per term. Participants receive arts instruction and hands-on learning, mentoring, and healthy snacks each week.
Current workshops (until March 29):
- Tuesdays, 3:30 Hip Hop Dance @ KCI
- Tuesdays, 6:00 Keyboards @ Broadview Ed. Centre
- Thursdays, 3:30 Visual Arts @ KCI
- Thursdays, 6:00 Vocals @ Broadview Ed. Centre
- Thursdays, 6:00 Form & Structure @ Broadview
- Thursdays, 6:00 Intro to Modern Batik @ Broadview
A new block of workshops start on April 9! Call 416-248-5000 ext. 25 for more information or to register or talk directly to Jessica, Jenna or Pastor Darrin.
