The Annual Society Meeting of Kingsview Free Methodist Church is scheduled for Sunday morning, June 26,2011. Part of the agenda will take place during the Worship Celebration, the “business” part will happen right after the service is ended.

Annual Society Meeting – sounds almost as appealing as a root canal at the dentist. Part of the lack of appeal may be the archaic language. When John Wesley launched the Methodist movement, he never intended to start a new denomination, so he called the gathering of Methodists together a “Society” instead of a church. An Annual Society Meeting is the time when the members of the church meet together to take care of church business.

So why can I hardly wait for Annual Society Meeting? At Kingsview Church, Annual Society Meeting has become a celebration of what God is doing among us and through us. The Worship Celebration includes reports on various areas of church life. God is opening new doors of opportunity before us and I can hardly wait to share them with you.

The text for the Worship Celebration that day is Acts 1:8, “But you will receive power when the Holly Spirit comes upon you. And you will be My witnesses, telling people about Me everywhere– in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” That sounds like the mission God has given to Kingsview Church and we are excited for the ways He is bringing it to reality.

The church business agenda for Annual Society Meeting includes reports by the Official Board and the Finance and Property Team.

The purpose of the Official Board is to ensure that Kingsview Free Methodist Church achieves the mission to which God is calling it and avoid unacceptable actions and situations.

The Finance and Property Team oversees the fiscal health of the church and maintenance of the church property.

An important part of the Annual Society Meeting agenda is electing members to these two bodies because they carry primary responsibility for the leaders of the church and fiscal management.

If you are interesting in serving with one of these two bodies, or if you would like to suggest someone, please contact either Pastor Darrin Lindsay or Pastor Howard Olver, or Tim Gonyou Chair of the Official Board so they can talk with you about the duties and responsibilities involved and the criteria for selection. Please respond as soon as possible so there is time to talk with people before the Society Meeting on Sunday, June 26th.
